KINGSTON penalty kill dominates in 2-0 defeat of BURLINGTONMainway A Sun, Jan 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
KINGSTON, which found itself down a man often, weathered BURLINGTON's power play opportunities and emerged with a 2-0 victory. KINGSTON was sparked by Jaclyn Bastedo, who racked up one goal. Bastedo scored 8:39 into the third period to make the score 1-0 KINGSTON. Kailey Peirson assisted on the tally. KINGSTON put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow BURLINGTON to score on any of its seven power plays. KINGSTON also got a goal from Shelby Perry (A) as well. In addition, KINGSTON received assists from Elizabeth Spinozzi and Mariah McCue, who contributed one a piece. BURLINGTON stifled KINGSTON's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Spinozzi recorded 23 saves for KINGSTON. KINGSTON totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. BURLINGTON's Kyra OBrien stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that she faced. BURLINGTON incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
