BLUEWATER had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 3-0 win over SOUTHWEST. BLUEWATER was led by Davis Smith (PU), who had one goal and one assist. Smith (PU) scored 6:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 BLUEWATER. BLUEWATER's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three SOUTHWEST power plays. BLUEWATER's defense was surprisingly good. BLUEWATER averages 2.2 goals allowed per game. SOUTHWEST was unable to stop BLUEWATER from sending pucks towards the net, and BLUEWATER eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. The defensemen of BLUEWATER were also effective in SOUTHWEST's zone, and came away with two goals. Others who scored for BLUEWATER included Stacey Henshaw and Krystin Lawrence, who scored one goal each. BLUEWATER's defense shut down SOUTHWEST's forwards for much of the game, and SOUTHWEST got off only 14 shots during the contest. SOUTHWEST could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. Carley Molnar recorded 14 saves for BLUEWATER. BLUEWATER incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Hanna Slater rejected 42 shots on goal for SOUTHWEST.
