WATERLOO blows out AURORA, 8-3

WATERLOO had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over AURORA.

WATERLOO got the win on the strength of a great game by Karley Charette, who had one goal and two assists. Charette scored 7:58 into the first period to make the score 3-0 WATERLOO. Kendra Puttick picked up the assist.

WATERLOO pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

WATERLOO made AURORA's netminders to work between the pipes, racking up 35 shots and forcing 27 saves. Nicholle Kovach made 20 stops and Taylor Lemmon made seven. WATERLOO bested its season scoring average. WATERLOO has scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign. WATERLOO was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. WATERLOO got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

WATERLOO also got points from Hannah Davidson, who also registered one goal and two assists. WATERLOO also had goals scored by Samantha Squires, Laura Irwin, Lindsay Dales, Kaelyn Toews (PU), Amanda Chiarello, and Mary Worndl, who scored one goal each. In addition, WATERLOO received assists from Kaitlyn Hanson, who had one and Amber Sealey, who had two.

AURORA kept WATERLOO's goalie busy throughout the game, and Shea Tiley made 32 saves on 35 shots.

AURORA was helped by Christine McCarthy, who finished with two goals. McCarthy scored the first of her two goals at 13:16 into the first period to make the score 3-1 WATERLOO. Reagan Fuller provided the assist. McCarthy's next tally made the score 4-2 WATERLOO with 18:36 left in the second period. Fuller assisted on the tally. AURORA additionally got points from Fuller, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for AURORA came via Emily Reier, Adelle Proia, and Olivia Bullen, who contributed one a piece.

AURORA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
