NEPEAN uses fast start to beat KINGSTON, 13-0

A six-goal first period deficit cost KINGSTON, which could not recover and fell to NEPEAN, 13-0.

Addi Halladay was all over the ice for NEPEAN, as she tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Halladay scored the first of her two goals at 4:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 NEPEAN. Katryne Villeneuve assisted on the tally. Halladay's next tally made the score 6-0 NEPEAN with 6:45 left in the first period. Villeneuve picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:50 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The NEPEAN penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. NEPEAN had been averaging 9.0 minutes in penalties per game. NEPEAN forced KINGSTON's goaltenders to work between the pipes, launching 63 shots and forcing 50 saves. Jensen Murphy made 27 stops and Elizabeth Spinozzi made 23. NEPEAN excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. NEPEAN bested its season scoring average. NEPEAN has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of NEPEAN were also effective in KINGSTON's zone, and came away with three goals.

NEPEAN additionally got points from Villeneuve, who also racked up one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, Blake Orosz, who also registered two goals and two assists, Dallis Ferguson, who also had one goal and one assist, Sam Cogan, who also tallied two goals and two assists, Lindsay Eastwood, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Carolyn Williams, who also registered one goal and two assists. NEPEAN also had goals scored by Alyssa Baker, Alison MacKenzie, and Sophie Contant, who scored one goal each. More assists for NEPEAN came via Shana Alexander, who had four and Nicole Halladay (PU) and Josiane Pozzebon, who each chipped in one.

KINGSTON racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 10.0 minutes per game KINGSTON had been spending in the box.

Kira Bombay recorded 17 saves for NEPEAN. NEPEAN registered three goals on six power play opportunities. For NEPEAN, Cogan was ejected from the game. For KINGSTON, Logan Conger and Mariah Wilson were ejected from the contest.
