NEPEAN squeaks by AURORA, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, NEPEAN escaped with a 4-2 victory over AURORA.

NEPEAN gained the winning advantage on a goal by Alyssa Baker 12:06 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Sam Cogan and Baker provided the spark for NEPEAN, combining for three goals and one assist. Cogan registered two goals and one assist and Baker also added one goal.

NEPEAN's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three AURORA power plays. NEPEAN forced AURORA goalie Nicholle Kovach to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

NEPEAN also got points from Addi Halladay, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, NEPEAN received assists from Katryne Villeneuve, Dallis Ferguson, Jenna MacDonald, Alison MacKenzie, Lindsay Eastwood, and Nicole Halladay (PU), who each chipped in one.

AURORA was led by Maresa Benacquista, who racked up two goals. Benacquista scored the first of her two goals at 54 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 AURORA. Taylor McIntyre picked up the assist. Benacquista's next tally made the score 2-0 AURORA with 15:38 left in the first period. Adelle Proia provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for AURORA were Emily Bondrager, who had one.

Megan Halhed made 15 saves for NEPEAN on 17 shots. NEPEAN incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kovach rejected 36 shots on goal for AURORA. AURORA incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
