ETOBICOKE beats BLUEWATER 2-1 after comeback scare

BLUEWATER tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but ETOBICOKE held on for a 2-1 victory.

A goal by Larissa Borowiec put ETOBICOKE up 2-0 in the third period, but BLUEWATER pulled to within one on Bradey Cowenberg (PU)'s tally 17:52 into the third period.

BLUEWATER was stymied by ETOBICOKE netminder Christi Honor, who stopped 33 shots during the victory. Honor certainly lowered her goals against average, which was 2.46 entering the contest.

ETOBICOKE's penalty kill excelled, as ETOBICOKE gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

ETOBICOKE stifled BLUEWATER's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. ETOBICOKE could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Katia Piccoli also scored for ETOBICOKE. More assists for ETOBICOKE came via Rachel Carvalho, who had two and Julia Szulewska and Susan Lorett, who contributed one a piece.

BLUEWATER forced ETOBICOKE goalie Honor to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. BLUEWATER's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as BLUEWATER finished with 16 penalty minutes.

In addition, BLUEWATER received assists from Abby Dortmans, who had one.

ETOBICOKE registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. BLUEWATER's Molly Jenkins stopped 15 shots out of the 17 that she faced.
