TORONTO hangs on, beats DURHAM WEST 5-3

Kaitlin Tse gave TORONTO the lead in the first period, and DURHAM WEST was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 5-3.

A goal 3:33 into the the first period by Tse proved to be the game winner, and powered TORONTO to the victory Breanne Wilson-Bennett assisted on the tally.

Taytum Clairmont and Wilson-Bennett provided the spark for TORONTO, combining for three goals and one assist. Clairmont tallied two goals and Wilson-Bennett also added one goal and one assist.

TORONTO's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four DURHAM WEST power plays.

TORONTO additionally got points from Wilson-Bennett, who also registered one goal and one assist and Tse, who also had one goal and one assist. TORONTO also got a goal from Amanda Pantaleo as well. In addition, TORONTO received assists from Lauren Wildfang, who had three and Sabrina Repaci, Jessica Gazzola, Connor Galway (PU), and Jessie Eldridge, who each chipped in one.

DURHAM WEST put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow TORONTO to score on any of its three power plays. DURHAM WEST's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. DURHAM WEST gives up 1.4 goal per game.

DURHAM WEST was led by Kennedy Marchment, who racked up two goals. Marchment scored the first of her two goals at 20 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 TORONTO. Alysha Burriss provided the assist. Marchment's next tally made the score 3-2 TORONTO with 17:21 left in the third period. Samantha McKenzie picked up the assist. Hayley Flynn also scored for DURHAM WEST. More assists for DURHAM WEST came via Meagan Lee, Alyssa Gee (PU), and Katrina Manoukarakis, who contributed one a piece.

Ally Sarna recorded 13 saves for TORONTO. TORONTO incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Stephanie Sluys rejected 14 shots on goal for DURHAM WEST. DURHAM WEST incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
