OTTAWA survives penalties, beats AURORA, 6-2

AURORA failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and OTTAWA shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-2.

OTTAWA was sparked by Katelyn Fournier, who tallied one goal. Fournier scored 2:41 into the third period to make the score 3-2 OTTAWA. Rebecca Leslie (C) assisted on the tally.

OTTAWA's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six AURORA power plays. OTTAWA forced AURORA goalie Nicholle Kovach to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots. OTTAWA surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, OTTAWA averages 2.6 goals per contest.

OTTAWA additionally got points from Maggie Knott, who also registered one goal and one assist and Leslie (C), who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Amanda Ieradi also scored for OTTAWA. Other players who recorded assists for OTTAWA were Amanda Titus (A), Caitlyn McLaren, and Caileah Forrest, who each chipped in one and Natalie Fraser and Samantha Bouley, who contributed two a piece.

AURORA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow OTTAWA to score on any of its four power plays. OTTAWA was unable to stop AURORA from sending pucks towards the net, and AURORA eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

AURORA was helped by Taylor McIntyre, who racked up one goal. McIntyre scored 2:02 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Maddison Lee picked up the assist. AURORA also got a goal from Christine McCarthy as well. In addition, AURORA received assists from Emily Reier, who had one.

Shawlee Gaudreault recorded 30 saves for OTTAWA. OTTAWA incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. AURORA's Kovach stopped 48 shots out of the 54 that she faced. AURORA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
