Great Falls penalty kill dominates in 6-3 defeat of Bozeman

The Great Falls Americans, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Bozeman Icedogs' power play opportunities and emerged with a 6-3 victory.

Great Falls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bozeman to score on any of its eight power plays. The Americans kept the Icedogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Zach Skop made 49 saves on 55 shots.

Great Falls was led by Aaron McInnis, who registered one goal and two assists. McInnis scored 13:16 into the third period to make the score 5-1 Great Falls. Zachary Mese provided the assist. Great Falls also got points from Cody Page, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Steven Goran, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Johnathan Carpenter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Mese, who also registered one goal and one assist. Tanner Doty also scored for Great Falls. In addition, Great Falls received assists from Bridger Strong, Paul Sartuche, Austin Krantz, Dylan Garton, and Lucas Stover, who each chipped in one.

Bozeman's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Great Falls power plays.

The Icedogs were helped by Frank Sabato, who had one goal. Sabato scored 12:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bozeman. Nathan Luznier-Purdy picked up the assist. Others who scored for Bozeman included Jake Nelson and Gunnar Mogck, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Bozeman were Ryan Erickson, who had two and Jason Demczak, Steven Nisbet, and Kegan Couture, who contributed one a piece.

Evan Hauser rejected 22 shots on goal for the Americans. Great Falls incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with 14 minors. Bozeman incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
