Gillette downs Yellowstone, 7-2

Darren Banks registered two points to lead the Gillette Wild to a 7-2 victory over the Yellowstone Quake.

Yellowstone was unable to stop Gillette from sending pucks towards the net, and the Wild eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. Gillette bested its season scoring average. The Wild average 2.8 goals per game. Gillette struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 34 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

Gillette also got points from Greg Sauers, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Andrii Istominov, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Alex King, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Gillette included Tj Mcminn, who had one and Shane Brown, who had two. More assists for Gillette came via Brandon Miller, Will Fobair, Moco Willis, and Dylan Eldridge, who each chipped in one.

The Quake's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Yellowstone finished with 26 penalty minutes.

The Quake were led by Jimmy Tich, who had two goals. Tich scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:10 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Yellowstone earned a power play opportunity when King was put in the box for head contact. Dong Seo provided the assist. Tich's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Gillette with 14:19 left in the third period. An elbowing penalty on Adan Sigala had put the Quake on the power play. Mike McCullen picked up the assist. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Mitchell Fehd, who had one.

The Wild's starting goalie, Sean Kelley, made 21 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Josh Beatty, who stopped four shots. Gillette registered three goals on nine power play opportunities. Case Hansen rejected 43 shots on goal for Yellowstone.
