Pensacola boosted by MacKinnon's play in net, beats Peoria 2-1

The Pensacola Ice Flyers relied on the sparkling performance of Ross MacKinnon in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Peoria Rivermen.

Pensacola was sparked by Adam Pawlick, who grabbed one goal. Pawlick scored 11:54 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola. Ryan Salvis picked up the assist.

The Ice Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Pensacola's offense was clicking better than usual and put 41 shots on goal during the game, better than the 29.4 shots per game it averages.

Pensacola additionally got points from Salvis, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Pensacola came via Brett Lutes and Steve Whitely, who contributed one each.

Peoria forced the Ice Flyers goalie MacKinnon to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

The Rivermen were led by Chris Greene, who scored the team's only goal. Greene scored 4:50 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Charlie Carkin assisted on the tally.

Ross MacKinnon made 35 saves for Pensacola on 36 shots. The Ice Flyers totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Pensacola ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitchell Good was ejected from the game. Kevin Carr recorded 39 saves for Peoria. The Rivermen ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
