Stanfield's goals lift Peoria to 3-0 victory over Mississippi Surge

Behind a great game by Parker Stanfield, who had two goals, the Peoria Rivermen defeated Mississippi Surge, 3-0.

Stanfield's tallies came at 16:18 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Peoria and on the power play 4:58 into the third to make the score 3-0 Peoria.

Peoria pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

The Rivermen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Peoria's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Rivermen allow 2.7 goals per game. By firing 43 shots on goal, Peoria exceeded the 24.4 shots it averages per game this year.

Locke Jillson also scored for Peoria. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Nick Prockow, Joe Schiller, Garrett Vermeersch, Matt Viola, Steve Morra, and Charlie Carkin, who contributed one a piece.

Mississippi Surge could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Mississippi Surge puts an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game. The 21 shots that Mississippi Surge put on net surpassed Mississippi Surge's average of 15.7 shots per game this season. Mississippi Surge's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put nine shots on net during the game.

Mississippi Surge was led by Tyler Turcotte, who took four shots.

Kyle Rank rejected 21 shots on goal for the Rivermen. Peoria registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Mathieu Dugas recorded 40 saves for Mississippi Surge. Mississippi Surge incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
