Berkley Scott netted the deciding goal for the Knoxville Ice Bears in the shootout as Ice Bears prevailed over the Fayetteville FireAntz, 3-2 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Fayetteville's shootout goal was scored by John Clewlow. In addition to the clincher, Knoxville got a shootout goal from Mark Van Vliet.The Ice Bears saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Knoxville made the score 2-0 on a goal by David Segal at 42 seconds in the second period. The FireAntz evened things up at 2-2 on a goal by Kyle McNeil at 16:24 in the third period. The Ice Bears put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fayetteville to score on any of its five power plays. Knoxville's offense was clicking better than usual and put 37 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.8 shots per game it averages. Francis Drolet also scored for Knoxville. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Van Vliet, Eric Satim, and Ben Souders, who contributed one a piece. The FireAntz's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Knoxville power plays. Fayetteville also got a goal from Clewlow as well. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Brandon Richardson, Bobby Reed, and Justin Barr, who each chipped in one. Bryan Hince rejected 24 shots on goal for the Ice Bears. Knoxville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Fayetteville's Peter Skoggard stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The FireAntz incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
