Mississippi RiverKings survived a determined comeback attempt by the Columbus Cottonmouths on the way to a 4-2 win.

Mississippi RiverKings made the score 4-0 on a goal by Sean Jones at 7:19 in the third period, and Columbus got as close as 4-2 when Mike Switzer scored 17:40 into the third period.

Mississippi RiverKings' penalty kill excelled, as Mississippi RiverKings gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

With 39 shots on target during the contest, Mississippi RiverKings exceeded the 27.1 shots it averages per game this year.

Mississippi RiverKings also got points from Devin Mantha, who also registered one goal and one assist. Todd Hosmer also scored for Mississippi RiverKings. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Burke Gallimore and Daniel Sobotka, who contributed one a piece and Matt Whitehead and Matt Harrington, who each chipped in two.

Mississippi RiverKings was unable to stop the Cottonmouths from sending pucks towards the net, and Columbus eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Columbus also got a goal from Tory Allan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Columbus were Tom Maldonado, Preston Shupe, Alex Gallant, and Andy Willigar, who contributed one a piece.

Matthew Krahn made 37 saves for Mississippi RiverKings on 39 shots. Mississippi RiverKings incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Curtis Martinu rejected 35 shots on goal for the Cottonmouths. Columbus incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
