Mississippi Surge downs Peoria in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Mississippi Surge's Lucas LaBelle scored 4:46 into overtime to beat the Peoria Rivermen, 3-2 (OT).

Mississippi Surge came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Mississippi Surge was down 2-0 after a goal by Peoria's Matt Viola at 13:16 in the first period. Mississippi Surge knotted things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Bill Baker at 14:15 in the third period.

Mississippi Surge's penalty kill excelled, as Mississippi Surge gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Mississippi Surge stifled the Rivermen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. With 29 shots on target during the contest, Mississippi Surge exceeded the 16.8 shots it averages per game this year.

Mississippi Surge also got points from Jordan Peddle, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi Surge were Justin MacDonald, Joe Tolles, and Jarkko Leppanen, who each chipped in one.

By firing 34 shots on goal, Peoria exceeded the 23.2 shots it averages per game this year.

Garrett Vermeersch also scored for Peoria. More assists for Peoria came via Nick Prockow, Taylor Larsen, Parker Stanfield, and Charlie Carkin, who contributed one a piece.

Mississippi Surge's Mathieu Dugas stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Mississippi Surge incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Kyle Rank made 26 saves for the Rivermen on 29 shots. Peoria incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
