Knoxville outlasts Huntsville, 3-2Breland Homes Ice Sun, Feb 16, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Knoxville Ice Bears gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Huntsville Havoc. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by David Segal at 4:42 of the third period. Knoxville was paced by Segal, who registered one goal. The 32 shots that the Ice Bears put on net surpassed Knoxville's average of 23.9 shots per game this season. Others who scored for Knoxville included Andrew Dovey and Eric Satim, who scored one goal each. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Peter Neal and Ben Souders, who contributed one a piece and Brady Vandenberk and Jason Price, who each chipped in two. Huntsville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Ice Bears to score on any of their four power plays. The Havoc were helped by Matt Singleton, who grabbed one goal. Singleton scored on the power play 19:52 into the second period to make the score 2-2. A cross checking penalty on Jeremy Klaver had put Huntsville on the power play. Stuart Stefan picked up the assist. Leland Fidler also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Kyle Frieday and Nick Lazorko, who contributed one a piece. Cody Rosen rejected 23 shots on goal for Knoxville. The Ice Bears ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. Kevin Genoe made 29 saves for the Havoc on 32 shots. Huntsville totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. |
