Louisiana survives Mississippi Surge comeback, wins 3-1

Mississippi Surge tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Louisiana IceGators would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

Louisiana made the score 3-0 on a goal by Tyler Lyon at 10:31 in the second period, and Mississippi Surge got as close as 3-1 when Joe Tolles scored 14:04 into the third period.

The IceGators were led by Adam Stuart, who registered one goal. Stuart scored 3:17 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Louisiana. Matt Robertson picked up the assist.

Louisiana stifled Mississippi Surge's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Louisiana additionally got points from Chris Wilson, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Louisiana came via Jordan Braid, who had two and Jared Lavender and Ron Cramer, who contributed one a piece.

Mississippi Surge put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the IceGators to score on any of their three power plays.

Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi Surge were Kyle Kudroch and Ian Boots, who each chipped in one.

Matt Zenzola made 21 saves for Louisiana on 22 shots. The IceGators ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Mathieu Dugas recorded 26 saves for Mississippi Surge. Mississippi Surge totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
