Louisiana downs Pensacola in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Bret Peppler gave the Louisiana IceGators a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Pensacola Ice Flyers when he scored 3:27 into the extra period.

Louisiana was led by Peppler, who racked up one goal and one assist.

The IceGators' offense was clicking better than usual and put 32 shots on goal during the game, better than the 28.5 shots per game they average.

Louisiana additionally got points from Clark Byczynski, who also registered one goal and one assist. Tyler Barr also scored for Louisiana. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Shawn McNeil and Jordan Braid, who contributed one a piece.

Pensacola stifled Louisiana's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ice Flyers relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Adam Pawlick, Joe Caveney and Malcolm Lyles took 15 of the team's 28 shots.

Pensacola was helped by Corey Banfield, who tallied one goal. Banfield scored on the power play 8:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. The Ice Flyers earned a power play opportunity when Greg Brown was put in the box for roughing. John Dunbar assisted on the tally. More assists for Pensacola came via Joshua Turnbull, who had two.

Matt Zenzola recorded 26 saves for the IceGators. Louisiana incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Pensacola's Ross MacKinnon stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Ice Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
