Knoxville vanquishes Peoria in shootout, 2-1 (1-0 SO)

David Segal scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Knoxville Ice Bears picked up the extra point in a 2-1 (1-0 SO) win over the Peoria Rivermen.

The shootout lasted for 18 attempts between the teams.

Knoxville came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Ice Bears was down 1-0 after a goal by Peoria's Garrett Vermeersch at 4:37 in the first period. Knoxville knotted things up at 1-1 on a goal by Jon Higgins at 10:15 in the first period.

The Ice Bears excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. With 36 shots on target during the contest, Knoxville exceeded the 26.5 shots it averages per game this year.

More assists for Knoxville came via Ben Power and Francis Drolet, who contributed one each.

The Rivermen stifled the Ice Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Cole Ruwe and Steve Morra, who each chipped in one.

Bryan Hince rejected 23 shots on goal for Knoxville. The Ice Bears incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Eric Levine recorded 34 saves for Peoria. The Rivermen incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
