Bloomington blows out Peoria, 5-1

The Bloomington Thunder were firing on all cylinders against the Peoria Rivermen, and when the final buzzer sounded Thunder emerged with a 5-1 win.

Curtis Megginson had a great game for Bloomington, netting two goals. Megginson found the back of the net 6:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Bloomington and again while on the power play 9:57 into the third to make the score 4-1 Bloomington.

The Thunder's offense was clicking better than usual and put 26 shots on goal during the game, better than the 22.7 shots per game they average. Bloomington outdid its season average for goals scored. The Thunder average 2.6 goals per game. Bloomington got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Bloomington also got points from Burke Gallimore, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Bloomington included Travis Granbois and Kyle Watson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Bloomington came via Eddie Olyzck, Pat Schafer, Kory Helowka, Tyler Noseworthy, and Branden Parkhouse, who each chipped in one.

By firing 34 shots on goal, Peoria exceeded the 22.6 shots it averages per game this year.

The Rivermen were led by Aaron McGill, who scored the team's only goal. McGill scored on the power play 8:13 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Bloomington. A tripping penalty on Paul DAgostino had put Peoria on the power play. Justin Gvora provided the assist.

BJ OBrien recorded 33 saves for the Thunder. Bloomington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kyle Rank made 21 saves for the Rivermen on 25 shots. Peoria incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
