Mississippi Surge falls to Peoria in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Peoria Rivermen's Nick Prockow scored 1:34 into overtime to beat Mississippi Surge, 3-2 (OT).

Peoria overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Rivermen trailed 2-0 after a power play goal by Mississippi Surge's Mark Thorburn at 16:24 in the second period. Peoria tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Matt Viola at 19:38 in the third period.

The Rivermen were led by Prockow, who tallied one goal.

The defense for Peoria played an important role offensively, racking up 12 shots on goal.

Jarrett Rush also scored for Peoria. In addition, Peoria received assists from Justin Gvora, who had two and Joe Schiller, Steve Morra, Jeremiah Ketts, and Tyler Amburgey, who contributed one a piece.

By firing 35 shots on goal, Mississippi Surge exceeded the 22.7 shots it averages per game this year.

Mississippi Surge also got a goal from Kyle Fletcher as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi Surge were Casey Mignone, Mike Lysyj, Joe Tolles, and Jarkko Leppanen, who each chipped in one.

The Rivermen's Kyle Rank stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Peoria totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Dan Clarke made 19 saves for Mississippi Surge on 22 shots. Mississippi Surge totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-1 on the power play.
