Mississippi RiverKings relied on the sparkling performance of Dan McWhinney in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Peoria Rivermen.

Peoria's power play was ineffective against Mississippi RiverKings' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Mississippi RiverKings was sparked by Matt Whitehead, who racked up one goal and one assist. Whitehead scored on the power play 1:58 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings had taken the advantage when the Rivermen's Garrett Vermeersch got sent off for slashing. Todd Hosmer picked up the assist.

Mississippi RiverKings kept Peoria's goalie busy throughout the game, and Russ Stein made 33 saves on 35 shots.

Mississippi RiverKings also got a goal from Leo Thomas as well. More assists for Mississippi RiverKings came via Andrew Randazzo, who had one.

Peoria was led by Nick Wheeler, who scored the team's only goal. Wheeler scored on the power play 19:26 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Rivermen earned a power play opportunity when Matt Smyth was put in the box for tripping. Tyler Fernandez assisted on the tally.
