Zenzola leads Louisiana to shutout victory over PensacolaPensacola Bay Center Sat, Nov 02, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Matt Zenzola was superb between the pipes for the Louisiana IceGators, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over the Pensacola Ice Flyers. Louisiana's penalty kill excelled, as the IceGators gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays. Louisiana was led by Jason Cohen, who grabbed one goal. Cohen scored on the power play 11:54 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. The IceGators had gotten the advantage when Pensacola's Shaun Arvai was sent off for high sticking. Jeremey Boyer picked up the assist. Louisiana stifled the Ice Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The IceGators relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Jake Trask, Kirk Byczynski and Tyler Lyon took 18 of the team's 35 shots. Louisiana also got points from Reid MacLeod, who also had one goal and one assist, Chris Wilson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Boyer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Pensacola forced IceGators' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 42 shots and forcing 42 saves. Zenzola made 39 stops and Kiefer Smiley made three. The Ice Flyers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Pensacola averages 4.0 goals per game. The Ice Flyers were led by Drew Baker, who took seven shots. Louisiana totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. Peter Di Salvo made 31 saves for Pensacola on 35 shots. The Ice Flyers ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major.
