Wingham survives Hanover comeback, wins 4-3

The Hanover Barons tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Wingham Ironmen held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Keaton Willis put Wingham up 3-1 in the second period, but Hanover pulled to within one on Brodie Lemay's tally 4:10 into the third period.

The Ironmen got the win behind a great game by Aaron Armstrong, who had two goals and two assists. Armstrong scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wingham. Wingham had gained a power play chance when Drew Quinlan was whistled for slashing. Brett Brophy picked up the assist. Armstrong's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Wingham with 8:01 left in the third period. Brophy assisted on the tally.

Wingham also got points from Jamie Huber, who also registered one goal and two assists. In addition, Wingham received assists from Jeremy Ross, who had one.

The Ironmen were unable to stop the Barons from sending pucks towards the net, and Hanover eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

The Barons were helped by Denver Hill, who grabbed one goal. Hill scored on the power play 5:05 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Hanover had gotten the advantage when Wingham's Josh Perdue was sent off for slashing. Garrett Weigel provided the assist. Hanover also got a goal from Justin Graham as well. More assists for Hanover came via Chris Hardy, Zach Freiburger, Andrew Scott, and Tyson Soers, who each chipped in one.

Ben Nelson made 28 saves for the Ironmen on 31 shots. Wingham incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Barons' Cam Harron stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Hanover incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
