Kincardine beats Walkerton 3-2 after comeback scareWalkerton Community Centre Fri, Jan 17, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Walkerton Hawks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Kincardine Bulldogs would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. Kincardine took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Walkerton storm back on a Lauchlin Elder goal 18:17 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Dalton Hnatko was all over the ice for the Bulldogs, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Hnatko scored 2:14 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kincardine. Shawn Moore provided the assist. Kincardine's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Walkerton power plays. The Bulldogs kept the Hawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Trevor Fleming made 31 saves on 34 shots. Kincardine also had goals scored by Gerritt Satosek and Jamie Miller, who each put in one. In addition, Kincardine received assists from Cody Britton, who had one. Walkerton was held below its usual level of production. The Hawks average 5.2 goals per game. Kincardine was unable to stop Walkerton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Walkerton also got a goal from Drew Davidson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Walkerton were Tyler Snyder, Jay Thomson, and Calvin Penney, who each chipped in one. Mitch Campbell rejected 34 shots on goal for the Bulldogs. Kincardine incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Walkerton incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Team's Jordan Turcotte and Chris Gillman were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
