Kincardine survives Hanover comeback, wins 3-2Western Jr. C Thu, Jan 02, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hanover Barons tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Kincardine Bulldogs held on for a 3-2 victory. Kincardine took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Hanover storm back on a Brodie Lemay goal 13:18 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Bulldogs' penalty kill excelled, as Kincardine gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. The Bulldogs stifled the Barons' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kincardine was led by Jamie Miller, who finished with one goal and one assist. Miller scored 1:48 into the third period to make the score Kincardine. Lucas Johnson provided the assist. Kincardine also had goals scored by Brett Catto and Brandon Priestap, who each put in one. More assists for Kincardine came via Carter Strachan, Mike Smailes, and Cody Britton, who contributed one a piece. Hanover put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bulldogs to score on any of their four power plays. The Barons' offense rang up 36 shots on Kincardine's net. Hanover was helped by Andrew Scott, who registered one goal. Scott scored 14:01 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Kincardine. Justin Graham picked up the assist. In addition, Hanover received assists from Garrett Weigel and Brad Piit, who each chipped in one. Mitch Campbell made 34 saves for the Bulldogs on 36 shots. Kincardine incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Ben Errington rejected 22 shots on goal for the Barons. Hanover incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
