Huge game by Graham boosts Mount Forest over Mitchell, 6-2

The Mount Forest Patriots' Justin Graham had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-2 win over the Mitchell Hawks.

Graham found the back of the net 1:49 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 8:07 into the second to make the score 3-2 Mount Forest.

Mount Forest's penalty kill excelled, as the Patriots gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Mount Forest stifled Mitchell's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Patriots' offense rang up 40 shots on the Hawks' net. Mount Forest could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Mount Forest also got points from Luke Richardson, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Dean Nixon, who also had one goal and one assist. Mount Forest also had goals scored by Mitch Betts and Ben Davis, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Mount Forest were Doug Costanzo, who had one and Trevor Hughson, who had three.

Mitchell kept the Patriots' goalie busy throughout the game, and John Nixon made 39 saves on 41 shots.

The Hawks were helped by Scott Fries, who registered one goal. Fries scored 16:05 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mitchell. Jalen Aitcheson picked up the assist. Mitchell also got a goal from Joe Gioia as well. In addition, Mitchell received assists from Tyler Tolton and Jerry Ennet, who each chipped in one.

Mount Forest registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Chris Wallace recorded 34 saves for Mitchell. The Hawks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
