Kincardine rolls over Wingham, 7-2

The Kincardine Bulldogs had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Wingham Ironmen.

Kincardine pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 13 penalty minutes.

The Bulldogs were led by Sam Feagan, who racked up one goal and one assist. Feagan scored 10:22 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Kincardine. Cody Britton picked up the assist.

Kincardine made Wingham's goaltenders to work all game long, ripping 33 shots and forcing 26 saves. Jaden Shrier made 19 stops and Keegan Woodman made seven. The Bulldogs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Kincardine bested its season scoring average. This season, the Bulldogs average 4.3 goals per contest. Kincardine got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Kincardine additionally got points from Chad Simpson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Dave Mercer, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Britton, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Kincardine included Carter Strachan and Lucas Johnson, who each put in one. More assists for Kincardine came via Shawn Moore, Gerritt Satosek, and Matt Baker, who contributed one a piece and Jamie Miller and Brett Catto, who each chipped in two.

The Ironmen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bulldogs to score on any of their three power plays. Wingham could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Ironmen put an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game. Wingham forced Kincardine goalie Mitch Campbell to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

The Ironmen were helped by Aaron Armstrong, who tallied one goal. Armstrong scored 25 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wingham. Matt McCracken provided the assist. Wingham also got a goal from Carter Stewart as well. In addition, Wingham received assists from Justin Jacklin, who had one and Jamie Huber, who had two.

Mitch Campbell made 38 saves for the Bulldogs on 40 shots. Kincardine ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luke Czuczman was ejected from the game. Wingham incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
