Brett Catto netted a hat trick to lead the Kincardine Bulldogs over the Mount Forest Patriots, 9-5. Catto notched his first tally 10:31 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:23 into the second and at 11:49 into the second.Kincardine's penalty kill excelled, as the Bulldogs gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Kincardine was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Bulldogs surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Kincardine made Mount Forest's netminders to work between the pipes, ripping 46 shots and forcing 37 saves. Cole Wardlaw made 28 stops and John Nixon made nine. The Bulldogs stifled the Patriots' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kincardine's goal total was higher than its season average. The Bulldogs have scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign. Kincardine also got points from Jamie Miller, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Brandon Priestap, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Sam Feagan, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Cody Britton, who also racked up one goal and five assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Kincardine included Chad Simpson and Matt Baker, who each put in one. Mount Forest forced Bulldogs' goalies to work all game long, launching 35 shots and forcing 30 saves. Mitch Campbell made 14 stops and Tyler MacGregor made 16. The Patriots' penalty kill unit could not stop Kincardine's power play, which converted on three of five opportunities. Mount Forest was helped by Luke Richardson, who tallied two goals. Richardson scored the first of his two goals at 10:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Doug Costanzo picked up the assist. Richardson's next tally made the score 4-4 with 10:53 left in the second period. Dean Nixon assisted on the tally. Mount Forest additionally got points from Doug Ardis, who also had one goal and one assist, Trevor Hughson, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Ben Davis, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Mount Forest were Justin Graham, who had one and Cody Wright, who had two. The Bulldogs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Paul Lamont was ejected from the game. The Patriots incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
