Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Hanover Barons defeated the Walkerton Hawks in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO). The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams.Hanover saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Barons made the score 4-2 on a power play goal by Andrew Scott at 59 seconds in the third period. Walkerton evened things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Calvin Penney at 5:34 in the third period. Scott had two goals to lead Hanover to victory. The Barons forced the Hawks' goalies to work in net, taking 34 shots and forcing 29 saves. Trevor Fleming made 12 stops and Adam Kalbfleisch made 17. Hanover managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Barons ended up below its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Hanover surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Barons average 2.9 goals per game. Hanover additionally got points from Brad Piit, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Hanover also got a goal from Brandon Eagles as well. In addition, Hanover received assists from Justin Graham, who had two and Brodie Lemay and Tanner Bastien, who each chipped in one. Walkerton forced Hanover goalie Cam Harron to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. David Gallo also scored for Walkerton. Other players who recorded assists for Walkerton were Austin Russell, who had one and Drew Davidson and Lauchlin Elder, who each chipped in two. The Barons' Harron stopped 36 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Hanover registered one goal on six power play opportunities. The Hawks incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
