Mitchell outlasts Mount Forest, 3-2Mount Forest Fri, Nov 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Mitchell Hawks escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Mount Forest Patriots. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Travis Knight secured the win for Mitchell with a goal in the third period. The Hawks' penalty kill excelled, as Mitchell gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. The Hawks were led by Knight, who had one goal. Knight scored 1:31 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Mitchell. Jalen Aitcheson provided the assist. Mitchell forced Mount Forest goalie John Nixon to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Hawks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Tyler Tolton also scored for Mitchell. Other players who recorded assists for Mitchell were Luke Fraser, who had one. Mitchell was unable to stop the Patriots from sending pucks towards the net, and Mount Forest eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Patriots were helped by Ben Davis, who registered one goal. Davis scored 35 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-2. Trevor Hughson assisted on the tally. Mount Forest also got points from Hughson, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Mount Forest received assists from Dean Nixon, who had one. Ben Nelson rejected 30 shots on goal for the Hawks. Mitchell incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Mount Forest's Nixon stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Patriots incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
