Wardlaw stymies Hanover, Mount Forest wins 4-1

Cole Wardlaw stood on his head and made 27 saves to lead the Mount Forest Patriots to a 4-1 victory over the Hanover Barons.

Mount Forest was led by Trevor Hughson, who registered one goal. Hughson scored 16:59 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mount Forest. Ben Davis assisted on the tally.

The Patriots stifled Hanover's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Barons were unable to stop Mount Forest from sending pucks towards the net, and the Patriots eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Mount Forest included Devin Williams, who had one and Justin Graham, who had two. In addition, Mount Forest received assists from Kyle Hunter, who had two and Doug Ardis and Luke Richardson, who contributed one a piece.

Hanover's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Mount Forest power plays.

The Barons were led by Brandon Eagles, who scored the team's only goal. Eagles scored 12:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brad Piit provided the assist.

Mount Forest ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Patriots, Mitch Betts was ejected from the game. Hanover's Ben Errington stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Barons totaled 27 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. For Hanover, Denver Hill and Tanner Bastien were ejected from the contest.
