Walkerton rips Hanover, 7-2Walkerton Community Centre Fri, Oct 25, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Walkerton Hawks had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Hanover Barons. Walkerton got the win behind a great game by David Gallo, who had one goal and three assists. Gallo scored on the power play 52 seconds into the second period to make the score 5-1 Walkerton. Drew Davidson assisted on the tally. The Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 28 penalty minutes. Walkerton made Barons' goaltenders to work in net, finishing with 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Cam Harron made 14 stops and Cody Van der Heide(AP) made 15. Walkerton additionally got points from Davidson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Walkerton included Brett Coulson, who had two and Shane MacDonald, Brandon Lamothe, and Austin Russell, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Walkerton were Lauchlin Elder, who had two and Robert White(AP) and Brady Richards(AP), who each chipped in one. Hanover was led by Andrew Scott, who racked up one goal. Scott scored on the power play 14:06 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Walkerton. The Barons had taken the advantage when the Hawks' MacDonald got sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Brandon Eagles provided the assist. Tanner Bastien also scored for Hanover. More assists for Hanover came via Austin Chaffe and Zach Freiburger, who contributed one a piece. Adam Kalbfleisch made 22 saves for Walkerton on 24 shots. The Hawks registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Hanover incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
