Wingham downs Walkerton in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Aaron Armstrong gave the Wingham Ironmen a 6-5 (OT) victory over the Walkerton Hawks when he scored 4:28 into the extra period.

Wingham came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Ironmen fell behind 4-1 after a power play goal by Walkerton's Calvin Penney at 11:57 in the second period. Wingham knotted things up at 5-5 on a goal by Lauchlin Elder at 19:23 in the third period.

The Ironmen's offense rang up 35 shots on the Hawks' net.

Wingham also got points from Brett Brophy, who also finished with one goal and three assists and Jamie Huber, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Wingham also got a goal from Jared Weishar as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wingham were Alex Kuntz, who had three.

Wingham was unable to stop Walkerton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Walkerton got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The Hawks' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Walkerton finished with 44 penalty minutes.

Walkerton additionally got points from Jordan Turcotte, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Penney, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Walkerton received assists from Drew Davidson, who had two and Joel Bowman, Brooks Nelthorpe, and Brandon Lamothe, who contributed one a piece.

Jaden Shrier made 30 saves for the Ironmen on 35 shots. Wingham incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Trevor Fleming rejected 29 shots on goal for the Hawks. Walkerton registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. For the Hawks, Jay Thomson was ejected from the game.
