Kitchener hangs on, beats Welland 2-0

Alex Demrovsky scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Kitchener Dutchmen held off the challenges of the Welland Jr. Canadians in a tough 2-0 win.

A goal 18:38 into the the first period by Demrovsky proved to be the game winner, and powered Kitchener to the victory Adam Kawelic(APM) assisted on the tally.

Marc Williams frustrated Welland's offense all game, and stopped 33 shots en route to a shutout. Williams managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.92 prior to the game.

The Dutchmen were led by Demrovsky, who registered one goal.

Kitchener put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Canadians to score on any of their five power plays. The Dutchmen forced Welland goalie Liam Conway to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Brett Clampitt also scored for Kitchener. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Connor Cole(APM), who had one.

The Jr. Canadians excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Welland could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Jr. Canadians put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. Welland's offense rang up 33 shots on Kitchener's net.

The Dutchmen ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Kitchener, Ty Learn was ejected from the game. Liam Conway made 33 saves for the Jr. Canadians on 35 shots. Welland incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
