Ancaster wins tough contest against Stratford, 3-2Valley Park Arena Sat, Oct 12, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Ancaster Avalanche escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Stratford Cullitons. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Cole Nagy secured the win for Ancaster with a goal in the second period. The Avalanche were sparked by Luke Zupan, who finished with one goal and one assist. Zupan scored 11:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Ancaster. Blake Luscombe assisted on the tally. Ancaster also got a goal from Ryan Lewis as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ancaster were Harrison Domagala, who had one and Zach Niemanen, who had two. Stratford's offense rang up 33 shots on Ancaster's net. The Cullitons were helped by Drew Gross, who had one goal. Gross scored 13:31 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Ancaster. Carter Allen provided the assist. Trevor MacDonald also scored for Stratford. In addition, Stratford received assists from Pat McKelvie(APJ) and O Brien Shane, who contributed one a piece. Braydon Banitsiotis recorded 31 saves for the Avalanche. Ancaster incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Stratford's Michael Pesendorfer stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Cullitons totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Stratford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jeff McArdle was ejected from the game.
