Guelph rolls over Buffalo, 6-2

The Buffalo Regals had trouble finding ways to stop the Guelph Hurricanes, which beat Regals, 6-2.

Guelph's penalty kill excelled, as the Hurricanes gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Guelph was paced by Matt Marsden, who tallied one goal. Marsden scored 6:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Guelph. Dustin Scheer picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:39 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Hurricanes stifled Buffalo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Regals were unable to stop Guelph from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Guelph found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Hurricanes have scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign.

Guelph also got points from Matt Lippa, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Ian Chan, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Chad Herron also scored for Guelph. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Corey Flemington (APM), who had two and Jake Wyse, Lawrence Pagnan, Craig Martini, and Shawn Rooke, who contributed one a piece.

Buffalo's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Guelph power plays.

The Regals were helped by Christopher Moses, who grabbed one goal. Moses scored 18:01 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Guelph. Colton Anstey provided the assist. Buffalo also got a goal from Jordan Matos as well. More assists for Buffalo came via Jake Battistoni, Nicholas Matos, and Michael Faliero, who each chipped in one.

Bradley Van Schubert made 20 saves for Guelph on 22 shots. The Hurricanes ended with 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and two majors. For Guelph, Herron and Marsden were ejected from the contest. Adam Dentico rejected 40 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Regals ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Buffalo ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ddomonic Gruttadauria AP was ejected from the game.
