St. Catharines blows out London, 4-1

The St. Catharines Falcons had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the London Nationals.

St. Catharines' Knick Dawe was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 32 saves and let only one puck past him. Dawe managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.2 prior to the game.

The Falcons' penalty kill excelled, as St. Catharines gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

The the Falcons penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. St. Catharines surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. The Falcons stifled London's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

St. Catharines was helped by Mark Rodgers, who registered one goal and one assist. Rodgers scored on the power play 11:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 St. Catharines. A cross checking penalty on Anthony Kotsvos had put the Falcons on the power play. Brennan Feasey provided the assist. St. Catharines additionally got points from Aaron Taylor, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Feasey, who also had one goal and one assist. St. Catharines also got a goal from Kyle Woodhouse as well. More assists for St. Catharines came via Dilan Walker, who had one and Jimmy Sheehan and Yanni Rallis, who contributed two a piece.

The Nationals were held below their usual level of production. London puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Nationals' offense rang up 33 shots on St. Catharines' net.

London was led by Chris Maton, who scored the team's only goal. Maton scored 17:24 into the third period to make the score 3-1 St. Catharines. Jeff Bauer picked up the assist.

The Falcons registered three goals on six power play opportunities. For St. Catharines, Kevin Guzzo was ejected from the game. Liam Herbst made 26 saves for the Nationals on 29 shots. London ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. For the Nationals, Matt Wildman and Scott Lombardi were ejected from the contest.
