Elmira boosted by Reinhart's play in net, beats Strathroy 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Jonathan Reinhart helped the Elmira Sugar Kings defeat the Strathroy Rockets, 4-1.

Elmira's penalty kill excelled, as the Sugar Kings gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Elmira was paced by Adam Brubacher, who racked up one goal and one assist. Brubacher scored 19:53 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Elmira.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:32 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Sugar Kings stifled Strathroy's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Elmira's offense rang up 31 shots on the Rockets' net. The Sugar Kings' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Elmira finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Elmira also got points from Cash Seraphim, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Mitch Wright also scored for Elmira. In addition, Elmira received assists from Adam Campagnolo, who had two and David Savery and Zac Coulter, who contributed one a piece.

Strathroy racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 14 minors and two majors for 48 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the Rockets had been spending in the box. Strathroy did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Rockets average 3.8 goals per game.

The Sugar Kings' Reinhart stopped 26 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Elmira registered two goals on 13 power play opportunities. Team's Justin Cooke, Campagnolo, Seraphim, and Brennon Pearce were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. PJ Bridges made 27 saves for Strathroy on 31 shots. For the Rockets, Jordan DaSilva, Jack Kilgour, Nick Boyer, and Dan Chapman were ejected from the contest.
