Dundas rips Chippawa, 5-2

The Chippawa Riverhawks had trouble finding ways to stop the Dundas Blues, which beat Riverhawks, 5-2.

Dundas was led by Alex Aquin, who racked up one goal and one assist. Aquin scored 12:53 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Dundas. Brayden Knott assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 23 seconds into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Blues were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on 10 chances.

Dundas additionally got points from Knott, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Dundas also got a goal from Matt Johnson as well. In addition, Dundas received assists from Cam McConnell, who had three and Nick McMullen, Dan Pelosini, Kevin Jaczenko, and Elijah Williams, who each chipped in one.

Chippawa forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Riverhawks surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game.

Chippawa was helped by Alex Cipriano, who registered one goal. Cipriano scored on the power play 7:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Chippawa. A holding penalty on Tyler Jones had put the Riverhawks on the power play. Dylan Lazarus picked up the assist. Curtis Sauve also scored for Chippawa. Other players who recorded assists for Chippawa were Kent Wardell, Matthew Baldinelli, and Wade Kenny, who contributed one a piece.

Dundas' starting goalie, Dan Davies, made 12 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Brock Novak, who stopped 10 shots. The Blues ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Dundas ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Greg Harley was ejected from the game. Chippawa's Ryan Humphreys stopped 25 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Riverhawks registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Team's Nick Manlow and Lazarus were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
