Glanbrook rips Simcoe, 7-2Glanbrook Arena Wed, Jan 29, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Simcoe Storm had trouble finding ways to stop the Glanbrook Rangers, which beat Storm, 7-2. Drew Jedrzejewicz had two goals and one assist to lead Glanbrook. Jedrzejewicz scored the first of his two goals short handed at 6:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Glanbrook. The Rangers played down a man on Cole Anderson's interference. Curtis Edwards picked up the assist. Jedrzejewicz's next tally short handed made the score 2-0 Glanbrook with 3:47 left in the first period. Glanbrook had gained a power play chance when Austin Richardson was whistled for interference. Jay Creen provided the assist. Simcoe's 12 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Storm let up four goals while on the penalty kill. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 5:15 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts. The the Rangers penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Glanbrook had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Rangers kept Simcoe's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tim Porter made 29 saves on 36 shots. Glanbrook outdid its season average for goals scored. The Rangers average 3.3 goals per game. Glanbrook also got points from Creen, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Brad Parish also scored for Glanbrook. More assists for Glanbrook came via Keifer MacInness, Malcom Toman, and Derek Vanenberg, who contributed one a piece and Chris Haigh and Nicolas Kuiper, who each chipped in two. The Storm were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and two majors for 80 minutes in penalty time. Simcoe surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Matthew Venturelli rejected 23 shots on goal for Glanbrook. The Rangers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Toman was ejected from the game. The Storm registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For Simcoe, Joel Potruff, Matthew DiPaolo, Wade Metz, and Jordan Mckenzie were ejected from the contest.
