Naugoris leads Grimsby over Glanbrook, 6-3

Behind a great game by Cooper Naugoris, who had one goal and four assists, the Grimsby Peach Kings defeated the Glanbrook Rangers, 6-3.

Naugoris scored on the power play 6:27 into the third period to make the score 4-1 Grimsby. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Brad Parish had put Grimsby on the power play. Mathew Paonessa picked up the assist. Naugoris dished an assist on Jordan McCarl's goal that made the score 1-0 Grimsby at 16:54 into the first period. He then added assists on Colin Wierts's goal at 13:21 into the second, on Liam Bruch's goal at 13:44 into the second, and on Trevor McEneny's goal at 9:13 into the third.

The Peach Kings' penalty kill excelled, as Grimsby gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Glanbrook was unable to stop the Peach Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Grimsby eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. The Peach Kings got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Grimsby additionally got points from Wierts, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Grimsby also got a goal from Andrew Kolodzey as well. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Damien Alfieri, Eric Cerino, and Andrew McMurtrie, who contributed one a piece.

The Rangers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Glanbrook was helped by Tyler Strabac, who had one goal. Strabac scored 7:35 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Grimsby. Brian Robson assisted on the tally. Glanbrook also got points from Chris Haigh, who also registered one goal and one assist. Curtis Edwards also scored for Glanbrook. More assists for Glanbrook came via Anthony Whitwell, who had two.

Mitch Mathieu made 22 saves for Grimsby on 25 shots. The Peach Kings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Matthew Venturelli recorded 37 saves for the Rangers. Glanbrook ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chadd Edwards was ejected from the game.
