Hagersville survives Simcoe comeback, wins 5-3Talbot Gardens Sun, Jan 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hagersville Hawks came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Simcoe Storm, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory. Hagersville led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Hawks' Brad Hornby's scored at 10:26 in the first period to put Hagersville up 3-0. Daniel Medeiros was all over the ice for the Hawks, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Medeiros scored the first of his two goals at 5:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hagersville. Hornby provided the assist. Medeiros' next tally made the score 4-2 Hagersville with 1:02 left in the second period. Hornby picked up the assist. Hagersville forced Simcoe goalie Tim Porter to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Hagersville additionally got points from Hornby, who also racked up two goals and two assists. Chris Martin also scored for Hagersville. The Storm's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Hagersville power plays. Simcoe's offense rang up 34 shots on the Hawks' net. The Storm were helped by Bryce Cadwell, who grabbed one goal. Cadwell scored on the power play 17:48 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Hagersville. Simcoe earned a power play opportunity when Travis Bell was put in the box for roughing. Braden Roberts assisted on the tally. Simcoe also had goals scored by Jamie Kelly and Austin Richardson, who each put in one. More assists for Simcoe came via Conner Robinson, Braedan Walker, and Wade Metz, who each chipped in one. Matt Murphy rejected 31 shots on goal for Hagersville. The Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Storm's Porter stopped 36 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Simcoe incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
