Grimsby uses early goal to top Port Dover, 2-0Port Dover Sun, Jan 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Joshua Kozielski scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Grimsby Peach Kings held off the challenges of the Port Dover Sailors in a tough 2-0 win. A goal 14:30 into the the first period by Kozielski proved to be the game winner, and powered Grimsby to the victory Thomas Rea picked up the assist.The Peach Kings were led by Kozielski, who registered one goal. Port Dover's defense shut down Grimsby's forwards for much of the game, and the Peach Kings got off only eight shots during the contest. Grimsby also got a goal from Nicholas Purves as well. Other players who recorded assists for Grimsby were Trevor McEneny and Mathew Paonessa, who contributed one a piece. The Sailors could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Port Dover puts an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game. The Sailors did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 10 shots on net to force 10 saves. Grimsby's Mitch Mathieu stopped 10 shots out of the 10 that he faced. The Peach Kings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Nathan McKinnon made six saves for Port Dover on eight shots. The Sailors ended with no penalties and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
