Glanbrook wins tough contest against Simcoe, 4-3

The Glanbrook Rangers gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Simcoe Storm.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Derek Goodwin secured the win for Glanbrook with a goal in the third period.

The Rangers were led by Goodwin, who had one goal. Goodwin scored 8:36 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Glanbrook. Cole Anderson provided the assist.

The Rangers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Glanbrook ended up below its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game.

Glanbrook additionally got points from Drew Jedrzejewicz, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Curtis Edwards, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Brad Parish also scored for Glanbrook. Other players who recorded assists for Glanbrook were Keifer MacInness, who had one.

The Rangers were unable to stop Simcoe from sending pucks towards the net, and the Storm eventually piled up 51 shots on goal.

Simcoe was led by Braedan Walker, who had two goals. Walker scored the first of his two goals at 4:38 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Simcoe. Jamie Kelly assisted on the tally. Walker's next tally made the score 3-3 with 2:33 left in the second period. Kelly picked up the assist. Simcoe also got a goal from Dakota Culbert as well. More assists for Simcoe came via Joel Potruff and Alex Gamble, who each chipped in one.

Matthew Venturelli made 48 saves for Glanbrook on 51 shots. The Rangers registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Tim Porter recorded 24 saves for the Storm. Simcoe incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. For the Storm, Conner Robinson was ejected from the game.
