Derek Medeiros had two goals and one assist to lead the Hagersville Hawks to a 3-1 victory over the Port Dover Sailors. Medeiros scored at 16:31 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Hagersville and again while 19:48 into the third to make the score 3-1 Hagersville.Hagersville was led by goalie Matt Murphy, who finished with 38 saves while allowing one goal. Murphy certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.21 entering the contest. Port Dover's power play was ineffective against the Hawks' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 1:49 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Sailors were unable to stop Hagersville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Hagersville was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. The Hawks had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 15 chances. Hagersville also got a goal from Travis Bell as well. More assists for Hagersville came via Kyle Phibbs, Daniel Medeiros, and Aleck Boyd, who each chipped in one. The Port Dover penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 12 minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game the Sailors had been spending in the box. Port Dover's offense rang up 39 shots on Hagersville's net. The Sailors were led by Camden Freeman, who scored the team's only goal. Freeman scored on the power play 9:24 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Hagersville. Port Dover had taken the advantage when the Hawks' John Monture got sent off for cross checking. Nick Deluca provided the assist. Hagersville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Clayton Millard was ejected from the game. The Sailors' Bob Wilson stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. For Port Dover, Freeman was ejected from the game.
