Grimsby rips Simcoe, 6-1

The Simcoe Storm had trouble finding ways to stop the Grimsby Peach Kings, which beat Storm, 6-1.

Grimsby was led by goalie Josh Asterino, who finished with 35 saves while allowing one goal. Asterino managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.9 prior to the game.

The Peach Kings were led by Joshua Kozielski, who racked up one goal. Kozielski scored 14:39 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Grimsby. Andrew Kolodzey picked up the assist.

Grimsby forced Simcoe goalie Avery Allen to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots.

Grimsby also got points from Jarrod Peacock, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Jeromy Hopkins, who also had one goal and two assists, Andrew McMurtrie, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Cooper Naugoris, who also registered one goal and two assists. Grimsby also got a goal from Mathew Paonessa as well. More assists for Grimsby came via Jordan McCarl, Curtis Jacques, and Brennan Smith, who contributed one a piece.

The Storm did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Simcoe averages 3.3 goals per game. The Storm's offense rang up 36 shots on the Peach Kings' net.

Conner Robinson also scored for Simcoe. In addition, Simcoe received assists from Joel Potruff and Braedan Walker, who each chipped in one.

Grimsby incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Avery Allen made 48 saves for Simcoe on 54 shots. The Storm incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
