Medeiros leads Hagersville over Dunnville, 8-5

Derek Medeiros was all over the ice for the Hagersville Hawks, as he tallied two goals and four assists in Hagersville's 8-5 win over the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats.

Medeiros scored on the power play at 3:30 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 3:41 into the third to make the score 6-4 Hagersville.

The Hawks made Dunnville's goaltenders to work in net, totaling 50 shots and forcing 42 saves. Josh Rosettani made 31 stops and Jesse Schoeman made 11. Hagersville found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Hawks have scored at the pace of 4.8 goals per game during the current campaign. Hagersville was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on 10 chances. The Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Hagersville also got points from Derek Low, who also had one goal and two assists and Aleck Boyd, who also registered three goals and four assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Hagersville included Mitch Green and Chris Martin, who each put in one. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Cole Martin, who had one and Daniel Medeiros, who had three.

The Jr. Mudcats kept Hagersville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Murphy made 35 saves on 40 shots. The defensemen of Dunnville were also effective in the Hawks' zone, and came away with two goals. The Jr. Mudcats' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Dunnville finished with 46 penalty minutes.

The Jr. Mudcats were helped by Mack Steele, who registered two goals. Steele scored the first of his two goals at 1:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dunnville. Dan Arrowsmith assisted on the tally. Steele's next tally made the score 2-2 with 4:12 left in the first period. Landon Minor picked up the assist. Dunnville additionally got points from Jeff May, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Dunnville also had goals scored by Bret Golding and Tyler Springer, who scored one goal each. More assists for Dunnville came via Austin Golding, Jordan Bolibrook, and Hayden Molen, who contributed one a piece.

Dunnville registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Jr. Mudcats ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Golding was ejected from the game.
