Medeiros nets hat trick, leads Hagersville to 10-5 win over Simcoe

Derek Medeiros lifted the Hagersville Hawks to a 10-5 victory with a hat trick against the Simcoe Storm.

Medeiros notched his first tally 16:39 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:36 into the second and at 16:04 into the second.

Hagersville's offense rang up 40 shots on Simcoe's net. The Hawks bested their season scoring average. Hagersville averages 4.6 goals per game.

Hagersville additionally got points from Aleck Boyd, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Hagersville also had goals scored by Kyle Phibbs, Zach Maciel, Jake Reichheld, Hayden Baird, Chris Martin, and Cole Martin, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Hagersville were Matt Murphy, Jacob Brown, Derek Friesen, Mitch Green, and Austin Dezeeuw, who contributed one a piece and Eric Drehmer and Daniel Medeiros, who each chipped in two.

The Storm forced the Hawks goalie Murphy to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Simcoe was led by Braedan Walker, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Walker scored 6:21 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jamie Kelly assisted on the tally. Simcoe also got points from Joel Potruff, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Austin Richardson, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Simcoe included Dan Stewart and Conner Robinson, who each put in one. More assists for Simcoe came via Dakota Culbert, Bryce Cadwell, Alex Gamble, Jon Witt, and Braden Roberts, who contributed one a piece.

Hagersville's Murphy stopped 36 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Hawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Avery Allen rejected 30 shots on goal for the Storm. Simcoe incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
