Chippawa uses shootout to best Glanbrook, 5-4 (2-1 SO)Glanbrook Arena Wed, Nov 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Chippawa Riverhawks defeated the Glanbrook Rangers in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. Glanbrook's shootout goal was scored by Cole Anderson. In addition to the clincher, Chippawa got a shootout goal from Curtis Sauve.Sauve had a great game for the Riverhawks, netting two goals. Sauve's tallies came at 16:06 into the third period to make the score 3-3 and 16:46 into the third to make the score 4-3 Chippawa. Chippawa excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Riverhawks forced the Rangers goalie Matthew Venturelli to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Others who scored for Chippawa included Ceasare Caldoroni AP and Josh Gordon, who scored one goal each. More assists for Chippawa came via Michael Rogers, who had two and Shawn Epp, Luca Petriello, Dawson Ethier, Jonathan England, and Luke Brackett, who contributed one a piece. Glanbrook put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Chippawa to score on any of its eight power plays. The Riverhawks were unable to stop the Rangers from sending pucks towards the net, and Glanbrook eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. The Rangers were helped by Derek Vanenberg, who tallied one goal and one assist. Vanenberg scored 6:59 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Glanbrook. Jay Creen picked up the assist. Glanbrook also got points from Drew Jedrzejewicz, who also had one goal and one assist and Creen, who also registered one goal and one assist. Keifer MacInness also scored for Glanbrook. In addition, Glanbrook received assists from Curtis Edwards, who had two and Brian Robson and Anderson, who each chipped in one. Colin Dunne made 29 saves for Chippawa on 33 shots. The Riverhawks ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Chippawa, Joseph Costello was ejected from the game. Venturelli rejected 29 shots on goal for Glanbrook. The Rangers incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
